This cake exemplifies one of the many styles of diaper cakes that we offer here at The Curious Cake Shoppe. All the goodies are packed inside where you can't see them, but what you can see are the hand rolled diapers that serve as the foundation for all our diaper cakes.

This custom cake was created as a gift for a local baby shower and the turnaround time was less than 2 days. So, even if Life gets the best of you and you find that your gift giving time period is down to the wire -- check in with us! Chances are we can help you create that perfect gift and still beat the clock.

Until next time...
Cheers!

Well, I'm not sure how I forgot to post this one, but I did!

This is the first cake presented by The Curious Cake Shoppe with all handmade ingredients. It was eagerly constructed for my friends almost immediately after hearing the news that she was pregnant. So, needless to say, it was difficult patiently waiting month after month until it was time to present the cake to them!

They had a beautiful baby boy and we are wishing them nothing but the best!

Diaper Cakes: Not Just for Newborns!

I was so pleased to be able to create this cake for a couple who just adopted a beautiful baby girl. The baby is 12 months old, which made this cake an extra special challenge.

This cake is made of Size 2 diapers to match her age range/weight category, and has a really cute matching onesie & summer dress filling. Finally, I topped the cake off with this larger, super soft stuffed animal and lots of fun pink flowers. And wa-la. What little girl wouldn't love being presented with something like this?

So there you have it. Q.E.D: diaper cakes are not just for newborns.

And on a side note: I am so happy for the family and I hope they all loved the cake as much as I loved making it.

Congrats you three!

More Cakes and More Customization Options!

Making a cake completely from scratch is a lot of fun! I'm blessed to have so many orders to create them lately, because it gives me the opportunity to truly customize a gift through and through.

We also have some exciting news! Maybe you've already noticed, because the last couple of cakes we have posted have been great examples of The Curious Cake Shoppe's newest feature: custom embroidery! Custom embroidery is a great way to personalize a Made From Scratch Gift Set or an already existing blanket, onesie, etc. Contact us today to discuss your next custom order or to learn more about our new embroidery services.

As always, click the image above to visit our Flickr gallery for more images and information about this cake and the custom gift set it contains!

We have been making a lot of cakes lately but since we have to wait, in many cases, for the gift recipient to receive their cake before we post it... the blog has been a little quiet. The last thing we want to do is spoil the surprise before it arrives, so we have been practicing a lot of patience.

However, I'm happy to announce that we have a new cake to show-off. This three tier cake was a gift for my sister-in-law and features fabric from Alexander Henry's collection. I highly recommend checking it out in the Flickr Gallery so that you can see the back of the cake.

Another reason to visit the Flickr Gallery, we have finally added a much needed "Gift Set" section that shows off the handmade ingredients featured in this cake. We will be updating it soon with more Gift Sets from previous and present projects.

You can reach the Gallery through the Gallery tab on our website, or by clicking the image or links above.

Bon Appetit!

The secret ingredients for this challenge were:

Butterflies
Baby's name: Madison

Some lovely ladies wrote in and asked if I could whip up a custom cake for them with the aforementioned ingredients. I love challenges, so this was a lot of fun! I'm spent some time gathering up ingredients, and then sat down and got to work. You can see the final results by clicking the image above to go to our Flickr gallery. What do you think?

Thanks to the ladies who sent this order in. I hope your gift recipient enjoyed the surprise as much as I enjoyed making it!
